What Is Container Stuffing?
Container stuffing is the process by which goods are loaded into a container to be shipped. It is an operation that needs a thorough plan that prepares for de-stuffing or the unloading process. The container likewise needs to be proportionate for shipment, and it is vital to ensure that nonidentical and hazardous items aren’t transmitted together. This planning procedure is important to ensure that goods aren’t damaged while they are being shipped and that the unloading process can proceed safely on the other side.
The stuffing of a container needs technical expertise regarding volume and weight, along with the distribution of goods to guarantee the proper use of space and the proper transport with a favorable outcome to the customer.
Container Loading Checklist
We execute a full container inspection to avoid structural damage in order to ensure that all items are loaded accurately and securely.
Our checklist includes but not limited to the following:
Checklist before Stuffing
- The right container: It is necessary to consider cargo type and form while choosing a container and the shipping standards and not exceeding the size and weight limits. The merchant needs to give thought to the type of goods he wants to export.
- Maintenance of the container
- Holes – No visible holes or cracks in the exterior paneling.
- Doors – No deformed or broken door hinges, seal gaskets, or locks.
- Neat – No remnants of the previous freight.
- Dry – The interior must be dry and free from frost or sweat.
- No infestation – There should be no sign of rodents, bugs, or pests that might spoil cargo and lead to delay.
- Unstained – If sensitive products vulnerable to damage by bad smells are to be loaded, then the container must be odorous. We immediately examine the container where the lingering odor is at its strongest.
- Roof Bows – Open tops containers must have their roof bows in place. If the roof is of the retractable type, then the roof bows should slide evenly to the ends of the container.
- The right packaging: Before the cargo is dispatched, it is important to secure it, to begin with.
- Labels – Any labels remaining on the surface of the container which applies to the previous cargo must be removed.
Checklist after Stuffing
- The way it is loaded – See to it that the top layer of packages is not loaded beyond the load limit, ensure that packages are piled to ensure airflow to give enough cooling to the entire shipment, ensure there is enough space between the last line loaded & the doors when closed.
- Doors Checked: When stuffing is complete, make sure that all lock rod cams are locked in place.
Types of Cargo & Stuffing Method We Use
Palletized Cargo
We arrange it in columns. We prevent putting the cargo beyond the pallet lines.
Cardboard Cartons
We ensure that the load is secure and level from wall to wall and front to back. We make sure that the cartons are either staggered or turned when loaded to give a lacing effect, which provides the load more balance and lessens shifting.
Bagged, Sacked or Baled Cargo
We stuffed it in cross-tiers, specifically in alternate arrangements. It is supported across the door to prevent the bags from dropping when the container is opened.
Wooden Crates & Boxes
We place the heavy products on the container floor with the pallet access openings facing the container door. Crates and boxes containing liquids that may leak are put on the bottom of the load.
Drums
Drums are placed upright with stopples placed on top, loaded tightly, and, if possible, palletized.
